When it comes to the concept of God, I have one question which bothers me the most. Who or What is god?
Is God a supernatural force or is god a person with superhuman powers?
If people in the past have seen and lived with God, why is he/she not coming into today's world?
People say Jesus lived with and preached to the people of this world. Why did he choose that time period and not now?
There is much Indian literature stating the same for Indian gods. Why are they not showing up these days?
Believe in God or don't but here is my take on this topic.
Let us assume God is not there. What will happen then?
I assume there will be chaos in the world. There is a novel called "Origin" by Dan Brown. In that book, the same assumption is made but that assumption is made true with proof. So, the main religious leaders of the world try to stop the scientist who proved that there is no God and the world with its people is merely scientific. (You can also consider this as my suggestion to read the book. It is one mind-blowing masterpiece by Dan Brown)
There is no God. So, people will stop having faith. They start doing things that are immoral without any conscience or fear of the consequences. The only answer you can get from people doing mistakes and crimes will be, "Who are you to ask? Why shouldn't I do this?" Now people will say, "God is watching. He will punish you. You will go to hell"
What will they say if there is proof that there is no God? At least the concept of God instills some fear in people before any wrongdoing. So, I guess it might be the reason people of the past conspired a concept called God.
Also, people have much difficulty accepting that life is random. They want to believe everything happens for a reason. Accepting things have reason is much easy than accepting it is random.
Why do we live? Do you have any proper answer for that?
It is just some random molecular evolution that created us. There is no reason or purpose for us to live. But if that is the case all the hard work, all the pain you are going through will be meaningless. So, we formulated things like goals, achievements, competitions trying to give meaning to life.
We all know death is inevitable but why are we living even when we are struggling. I don't know why I live. It's what I have been told that I should live. We are supposed to live. If we are supposed to live, then why is there an option called death. Why am I able to kill myself? Why am I provided with that option but prohibited from using it?
We don't understand anything but we act like we do. So, we just simplify things and live accordingly believing that it is true.
What is life? What is God? What will happen to us when we die? Is there heaven and hell?
We don't have answers to any questions.
But we believe in most of those things.
You may be an atheist but you live every day. Why? Because you have faith in life.
You believe in god but you live every day too. Why not die and meet God in heaven? Because you want to live.
Believing in things makes life easy for us. Believing in God makes us believe that there is a supernatural force watching everything, so there will be a feeling of comfort that if you ask for it, it will be granted or if anything bad it will be punished. It makes you live a morally good life.
Not believing in God makes life easy too because you believe it is science. It can be studied and understood.
But I don't know where I stand. All the time I am atheist or to be more accurately agnostic. But when there is a difficult situation all I can think of is, "God if you are there, please help me". Why do I do that?
Because it gives me comfort thinking that I am not alone in this pain. There will be a help. Because I believe I want to live and deserve something. So, I guess for everyone it comes down to this.
I still don't understand why I wrote this. I still don't understand what I am trying to say with this blog. I still don't understand life. But all I know is It is okay not to understand anything but still go through with it.
