Tamil serials are the main source of entertainment in many households but are they doing the correct work?
I don't think so.
Most of the serials have the same story and many serials don't even have a name of their own, they just use the name of a well-known movie.
After a long tiring day, what do we want to do? All we want to do is to relax but watching these serials are only giving me anxiety and frustration. I have enough problems on my plate to deal with, I don't want to see some other people crying for all the problems they are constantly getting. No serial makes me smile, let alone makes me laugh and relax. I get anger issues seeing them. I get irritated seeing those. Is it the purpose of making those serials?
Okay, I agree if you say this is how we can make this for the long run. At least make it informative man. You have the chance to educate people from the rural side, they are your main audience. But all you do is endorse superstitious beliefs and make people go to the old destructive ways.
I just have some questions to ask, just a few.
1. Why are characters belong only to one religion? I don't see any other religion being portrayed by any character in most of the serials. Why? Why are you not promoting religious diversity and faith of different religions in India, at least the majority of Christianity or Islam? Why can't you make serials where the characters have religious tolerance and respect the faith of every person irrespective of religion?
2. Why are only negative characters wearing modern clothes and people who you portray as good are only wearing traditional clothes like Sarees and salwar? Why can't you let people know that it is okay for everyone to wear modern clothes and they are good people no matter what they wear? I am not asking you to make the characters wear bikinis or sexy dresses, just jeans and a top which would not trigger any provocation would be fine. That's what the people who play those characters wear in real life, right? It need not be provocative. Just educate people that wearing modern clothes doesn't mean that the person is low in character.
3. Why do the female leads keep calling their spouse as sir in many serials? I know you made those characters that way, but you made them fall in love and they are married right. Also, why is the female character always made like this, a housemaid or an employee of low rank who has nothing to achieve greater in life except to serve her husband. Feminists are made the antagonist. The antagonists are the ones with high aims and run an industry successfully. Why do you have to portray it like that?
4. I can even accept all these but one thing I can never accept is that why an samiyaar or a woman who claims to predict the future always comes into play when you want to make the script interesting? Why are you making your leads involve in superstitions that hurt them like "walking in fire", " carrying a pot full of fire", "walking in thorns" and many other which involve physical wounds? People won't notice the lines which you display at the bottom saying," the channel doesn't support superstitions", all they will do is follow the superstitions in real life because the character they believe to be the hero and heroines does that to save their situation. Please don't do that. It is a request from me. Please make the lead roles against these superstitions, not ambassadors and the ones performing it.
I am not asking you to make serials like the English series, just don't make people believe in wrong things. Please. You have the power to make an impact in society with your stories but all you do is mamiyar marumagal drama and people in the same house acting against each other endorsing negative thoughts in everyone seeing your serials.
